An Inner Monologue With Myself (Early Morning Workout).





*Alarm goes off. 
Wait, what? It's morning already?
Nah, not possible. I must have set the alarm wrong. 
Oh. I didn't? Well the time on this phone must be wrong. 
Oops, the clock agrees with it though...
Hmm so it's morning already. 
But why do I really need to workout?
I mean, they say your weight is 70% what you eat. 
Yeah well, I guess I'll just have to eat less today. 
Much less. 
But damn I ate so much yesterday. I really should get off the bed
Ok... Getting up. 
But wait!

What if while running I get hit by a car?
You know it's still early and these early morning drivers are still sleepy. 
I really don't think I should go and run this morning. 
Also what if I trip on something and fall?
What if I get kidnapped?
What if I get a very important call when I'm out, you know I don't run with my phone. 
What if I'm meant to have a revelation in my dream when I continue sleeping,
What if that dream is the message I've been asking God for?
You see, that's how I will miss my life-altering revelation,
I'll miss it just like that?
Just because I went to run. 
Not worth it jor, I'll sleep some more. 

But wait, so if I don't workout now, when will I? 
I've been putting it off and the pounds are piling up
Everyday I say tomorrow. 
I really should get up.
Ehn... But wait first... 

You know if you don't get your full sleep now you'll be cranky during the day
And when you're cranky you'll eat too much to make yourself feel better
And weight loss is 70% what you eat
So isn't that counter-productive? 
Thelma think! Be wise. 
What's the point in going to burn 300 calories just to consume 3000 afterwards?
Yeah, I better sleep. 

Don't worry we'll go to the park in the evening, 
It's even more fun and T.U could join you
But wait I've got plans this evening 
I have a meeting at 7, and drinks afterwards with Yomi
Oh wow, I can't miss that date, Yomi is so dreamy. 
Dreamy... I'm already beginning to dream, it could be the revelation 
We'll workout tomorrow, I'll just go to bed earlier tonight. 
I really want to sleep, 
Life is too short to deprive myself of the little pleasures biko,
Tomorrow ok?

  2. As long as you are healthy and not obese it's fine..... Some slim people are not healthy at all o, they cannot even run from Eko Hotel roundabout to Eko hotel......... The goal remains staying healthy and fit

  4. I'm with Eniola get enough sleep and eat healthy start exercising when your heart is in it. What happened to the Insanity work out are you still on that?
    You could buy a skipping rope that way you don't have to leave your house to work out.

Amen.@anon, I have gone through different phases,registered at a gym,early morning jogging, dieting or should I call it starving yourself.These days I don't take myself too seriously, I try to do at least 30 sit-ups in a day, watch what I eat, work on my self-esteem,make sure I feel good about myself and my body.

    Most importantly, I dont beat myself up when I give in to a craving for a cookie or miss out on my daily sit-ups. Abeg I cannot come and go and die.....

  7. Thelma, that's my morning routine as well. But as difficult as it is, just think of how good you'll feel after the workout. Plus you'll feel even better once you meet your goals!

  11. Thelma u must challenge ur self. It's not easy o, but it's doable, I was a size 8 bfor I got married, childbirth got me to a size 14, (just one baby o). I had to work out to become a 12. After I hv baby number 2, my ggoal is to ensure I am a 10. That's what I owe myself to be happy. Trust me, once u get to ur dreeam size, the glow from within will be obvious x 10. Clare

  16. Thelma..I think you should focus on what you eat and not even exercise. Heck you can be in your living room and just dance or walk for 30 mins.. 4 times a week. From your posts, it seems like you do eat out a lot which isn't good for weight loss.. same with sweets and drinks.. try to cut down on those.. make water and green tea your best friends.. if you must eat out with friends, try having non-fried poultry or fish with vegetables and maybe fruit salad for dessert. once in a while you can indulge at an eatery..but yea, focus more on your food intake and the portions... If you love to cook you can try different healthy meals and I can give you a meal plan if you want.

  17. Try counting calories it helps makes you accountable and keeps you in check. Myfitness pal is a great app. Losing weight is easy but it depends on what pace you want it and if you are patient.

    With counting calories you eat all kinds of things but limit your quantity because you now know what the calorie content a "bag of popcorn" would be.

    The app also helps you lose weight according to your target goal and pace.....UG

  18. My younger sister got to a size 12 or 14 and we were on her case in our home cos we are all slim! All 5 girls minus 2- my mum and my sis. Well she bought a pair of jogging shoes to start her 'outreach'...I simply told her to just assume she has added to her collection of shoes because I knew she wouldn't be faithful in her ministry! She is still the same way now and so are the shoes!....JoyDaNuGirl

  20. I went shopping yesterday only to discover dat I'm nw a size 10, evn sum of d cloths were a little big for me. I was really happy, I have a very big tommy wc makes me wear size 12 for my gowns nd tops. Well I didn't exercise dat much but I do try to eat right. I think u shld concentrate on eatn right more dan d exercise. Bt exercisn is essential. I understand what u r goin thru I av a younger sis who is size 14, she tries to exercise bt at d end its lyk I cannot come nd go nd die.

Good morning people! 
Just checking in to sign the register. Lol. It's been a very busy week and it looks like it might be an even busier weekend. I was hoping to get some writing done when I got to the airport yesterday but I even almost missed my flight. It was hopeless trying to do any work on the plane as it was bumpy af, and this toddler behind me wouldn't stop screaming in piercing shrieks like he was being exorcised. 
I got into town pretty late and needed to keep an appointment ASAP. I'm heading out right now and it's going to be a long day, but thought I should drop this first.

THE ‘NEW’ SIDE CHICK: I WAS HER

A side chick is commonly known as a mistress or a woman that’s romantically involved with a man who is in a committed relationship.  However after doing some reflecting, I realize that’s not the only type of side chick.  I want to discuss “the new side chick”–a woman who decides to stay by a man’s side after he has expressed his lack of relationship intentions with her through his words or actions.  So many women have made this mistake at least once in their lifetime, and unfortunately I’ve done the same thing. I like to think of the new side chick as an appetizer.  You’re there just to satisfy the immediate appetite of the man, but as soon as that mouth-watering entrée comes out to the table, you will get pushed to the side, literally.  Why?  Because that entrée is what he really wanted; he went to the restaurant to order steak, not hot wings.  You were just a placeholder, fling, temporary commitment, or  maybe even just a “good ol time” until what he really wanted was presented to hi…
