I’m not a writer but I’ll try not to be all over the place with this..
On the sixth of March a very long time ago, a gem was born. The beginning of strength, the excellency of dignity, theexcellency of power of her Father’s household. I thank God every opportunity I get for making me her daughter. Her life isn’t exactly easy but she sails through it with a smile perpetually plastered on her sweet face. I’m talking about my friend, my confidant, my very own cheerleading squad, my one man army, my jewel of inestimable value, my mother.
Fondly called Mama Kabuoy on this platform, she makes me want to be a better me; she loves unconditionally and cares even more. I rest assured that no matter what I do, she will always be there, loving me and praying for me. At a time when most parents are out of touch with their children’s lives probablybecause of the advent of technology, Mama Kabuoy makes a strong effort to be part of our lives at every given point through constant phone calls to “check in”, Facebook, Twitter, BBM,Whatsapp, and very recently, TTB... lol constantly encouraging and cheering us on.
When I had my first heartbreak a couple of years ago, I was crying like a baby in the middle of the night, I remember my mum coming to my room and consoling me. Before that time, to me, you weren’t supposed to discuss boys and stuff with your parents but Mama Kabuoy is different. That night, she became my best friend. My sisters and I discuss everything under the sun with our mum without fear of judgment or being sent for deliverance… lol
When I think about my mum, “I Love You” seems grossly inadequate. She works herself sore everytime just to make sure that her children are well taken care of, she’s an amazing wife, a fantastic mum, a “soji” pastor and a great cook J. She loves parties and coldstone dates with “the girls”, she loves to minister, her favourite food is white rice I think? (She can eat it 3 times a day), she also loves soft soft soft amala and ewedu, and she can pray for Africa!
On this special day, I wish my amazing mother a very happy birthday, may your life be filled with more joy than your heart can hold, more laughter than your mouth can contain, peace that transcends all understanding, abundant grace, and dumfounding testimonies. We love you mum. Thank you for all you have done.
