Being Pressed.

Hi Thelma please can you do a post on something that has been disturbing me? It is this issue of being pressed down when I am sleeping. I don't know how to really explain it but it's as if I'm falling or something is pressing me down, I try to wake up but I have to struggle and struggle first. Most times it is as if I am awake because I feel very aware of my surrounding. I know some people say it is sleep paralysis but for me I always feel like it's a spiritual attack, when it starts happening I shout Jesus or blood of Jesus and that is how I come out of it. Please is anyone else experiencing something like this? Please how can I know if it is spiritual attack or if it is sleep paralysis, and how can I make it stop? Thank you.

I don't have any answers on this but I did a post on sleep paralysis months ago...

  1. Go for deliverance and try to pray before you sleep...

  4. It is called "PRESSING" in Naija but "SLEEP PARALYSIS" by the white people. As a typical Nigerian, I will say it's way beyond scientific theory why? Because once you are able to even whisper "Blood of Jesus" you are released and then you wake up.#Godpassdevil

    1. Thank you very much Bloggitup, I was thinking this before I saw your comment, if it's science why does saying "Blood of Jesus" stop it? Whenever it happens to me I just tell myself if that name can come out your mouth you're OK, but sometimes you can't even get the words out.

It makes me realize that my life is not in my own hands but in God's

  5. Everything in Naija is now spiritual. Have food poisoning - spiritual, can't find husband - spiritual, break a leg - spiritual, have a headache - spiritual, bump your head on a pole -spiritual, can't have male kids - spiritual. Have sleep paralysis - spiritual... Naija I hail thee. Ignorance!!

    1. I have read an insightful and very detailed article on sleep paralysis; how you shouldn't panic but relax when it happens and so on.... but I still maintain it is spiritual because once you can mutter the "blood of Jesus", you are released from the scuffle.
Dear anonymous, since you aren't ignorant pls school us on why the blood of Jesus always comes to the rescue if it isn't spiritual.

    2. Its psychological my dear. One of The reasons why people can't perform a particular task because they need a specific thing around them.
An example was the great rapper notorious BIG, HE could never make a solid record if 'bitches' weren't in the studio with him. And some naija artist today can't do anything without smoking. Whatever rocks your boat is just fine.

Most of us have grown up believing in the name of Jesus Christ as our protector and guardian, so we always go back to him anytime we find ourselves in 'bad' situation. If a non-christian is told to say the name of Jesus and he doesn't understand it, it can't work.

So I repeat, its all about our psychology.

    3. Spot on Uyi..u got here b4 I cud respond to blogitup.
Honey, its just a thing of the mind. Calling Jesus supposedly works for you because you believe it will work not necessarily that it works. It's psychological dear.

    5. The same way some people say most things are spiritual is the same way some other people say those same things are psychological. Believe what you want to believe but don't forget that the devil attacks your mind, once he's gotten a hold of your mind your own has finished.

Nobody will "press you" if u sleep on ur sides or front.

  7. Best way to be rid of it is to be on 'FIRE' for God. When your spiritual life is HOT and active, fear nor go let devil near you...so i say its a demonic attack and i experienced it way back, when i was a newbie born again christian

  8. I have experienced it severally, it's by muttering "blood of Jesus" I snap out of it.

I became more prayerful, it's been a long time. Try to sleep on your side/ stomach, more. If it's still happening seek God.

Anyway remember that God should always be the centre of your life, not only when you are in trouble.

Pray before you go to bed as well.
(why is the demon in the picture a woman, Thelma, I put it to you that,....)

  10. I experience this growing up, but i was able to deduce a trend with it. It only happens to me when i sleep on my back (that is facing upwards), but when i sleep in other positions, nothing happens. Ever since then, i am conscious of my sleeping positions.

Check your sleeping position and see if it's same, and don't forget to pray b4 u sleep.

  11. Sleep paralysis is both logical and illogical. There's no need explaining the illogical aspect here because you first have to believe in the spiritual and then experience it for yourself before accepting it as a fact. It's like Thelma posting here that she saw JESUS last night. Even I would find that weird with all my knowledge and acceptance of the paranormal.

So dear Poster, treat this issue seriously from both the logical and illogical side. For the logical, see a doctor; for the illogical, follow Kabuoy's advice. Stay blessed.

  12. I sleep on my back most times. it kinda is my most comfortable sleeping position. So why don't i experience it anymore or every time? Life is way more spiritual than we can imagine... I know @Uyi will never agree ( always trying to explain everything with Logic)

    1. Come young lady, just leave me alone oh before I invade your house... unexpected ofcourse.

    2. Lmao @Uyi. Don't blame Uyi, we're all wired that way naturally. Accepting issues related to the paranormal isn't normal unless you experience it yourself.

    3. And dats why I like Uyi. He is very logical and open minded. A lot of ppl need to start thinking with their God given brains instead of throwing everything to spirituality or deliverance. Humans are above animals for a reason...intelligence!!
It's like sum1 throwing up after eating a bad meal, instead of rushing him to the hospital, you will still see some ignoramouses that will say take him for deliverance instead. As if its not the same God that infused intelligence into doctors to have the ability to sort out such problems. I really tire ooo.

  13. Be prayerful, see a pastor for deliverance and try changing ur sleeping position. Everything will be alright.

  14. I experience this mostly when I sleep in the afternoon, I wake up but can't open my eyes, sometimes I'll be struggling to wake up but it feels like someone is pressing me down, be trying to call JESUS but can't. It's tiring and frustrating to the extent that I dread sleeping in the afternoon these days.

So dear poster you are not alone.

  15. Experience they say is the best teacher...not until we (or someone close to us) experience something that logic, intelligence or even science cannot explain.... some people will never believe in the supernatural.
@Uyi U know say na only you i fit pick on na...

  16. Why does this happen only when one sleeps facing up? The inability to shout or difficulty in breathing is caused by the tongue partially blocking your airway. When the braind doesnt get as much oxygen, images appear.

I am not disputing the fact that we are spiritual beings and that spiritual things do happen but, c'mon guys, before we jump into that bandwagon, be logical first. i can confidently tell you that if you sleep on your side or on your tummy, sleep paralysis wont happen.

  17. Go and marry and let your partner know the signs and the person can wake u up.

Turia Pitt Suffered 65% Burns But Loved Conquered All...

Amazing Story Shared by Dr. Ben Carson on Facebook, i thought it is inspiring and i decided to share;

The Australian ex-model Turia Pitt suffered burns to 65 per cent of her body, lost her fingers and thumb on her right hand and spent five months in hospital after she was trapped by a grassfire in a 100 kilometre ultra-marathon in the Kimberley. Her boyfriend decided to quit his job to care for her recovery.
Days ago, in an interview for CNN they asked him:
"Did you at any moment think about leaving her and hiring someone to take care of her and moving on with your life?"

His reply touched the world:

"I married her soul, her character, and she's the only woman that will continue to fulfill my dreams."

This made me very reflective. I just wonder; if the person you love today encounters an incident or accident that transforms who they are physically, it could be amputation, it could be paralysis, it could be severe burns that scald their flesh beyond recognition, w…

Good morning people!
Just checking in to sign the register. Lol. It's been a very busy week and it looks like it might be an even busier weekend. I was hoping to get some writing done when I got to the airport yesterday but I even almost missed my flight. It was hopeless trying to do any work on the plane as it was bumpy af, and this toddler behind me wouldn't stop screaming in piercing shrieks like he was being exorcised.
I got into town pretty late and needed to keep an appointment ASAP. I'm heading out right now and it's going to be a long day, but thought I should drop this first.
Have a splendid day. Im'ma be back soon.

THE ‘NEW’ SIDE CHICK: I WAS HER

A side chick is commonly known as a mistress or a woman that’s romantically involved with a man who is in a committed relationship.  However after doing some reflecting, I realize that’s not the only type of side chick.  I want to discuss “the new side chick”–a woman who decides to stay by a man’s side after he has expressed his lack of relationship intentions with her through his words or actions.  So many women have made this mistake at least once in their lifetime, and unfortunately I’ve done the same thing. I like to think of the new side chick as an appetizer.  You’re there just to satisfy the immediate appetite of the man, but as soon as that mouth-watering entrée comes out to the table, you will get pushed to the side, literally.  Why?  Because that entrée is what he really wanted; he went to the restaurant to order steak, not hot wings.  You were just a placeholder, fling, temporary commitment, or  maybe even just a “good ol time” until what he really wanted was presented to hi…

Shhhhhhh....

I'm in an amebo mood tonight. Don't ask me, I honestly don't know why. Also I'd like to share too but I'd do that anonymously in the comment section. Tonight I want to talk about secrets. It's ok, we can all be anonymous.
Is it true that EVERYBODY has a secret?
Is there anyone here who doesn't have a secret? I'd really like to know; You're a completely open book and there's not ONE thing about you that you wouldn't mind other people knowing about? Please raise your hands up.
And for the rest of us, what's something about you that no one knows, or very few people know? Who's got a dark secret here, or a weird one, or a funny one even? I really don't mean to be invasive but I don't want to be the only one sharing, plus I think hearing other people's secrets is quite fun, don't you think?

Let's Be Random Together! (Open Keypad).

Hey guys, a while back blog reader F said something about creating an Open Keypad post, where you can write whatever you want in the comment section. I thought it was a fun idea!
So who is interested? Comment on anything you feel like, ask me or anyone a question, talk about how your day went, your job, your interests, tell us something about you that we don't know, share a testimony with us, rant about anything you feel like, talk about your crush/boo/spouse/relationship/marriage, challenges you're facing, ANYTHING AT ALL!
I'll only make one request; that we stay civil.

(F it was you who made this suggestion, right? I'm not too sure and I can't even remember the post the comment was made on).
BTW please Ejoeccome out come out, wherever you are!

Question of The Day.

TTB readers doesn't this tweet below remind you of something?
That mail that someone sent me a few weeks back.
But why on earth should a man sleep with his son's fiancé? But what am I saying, some men even sleep with their daughters...

Oh well, I'm throwing the question to you. What has happened in your life that you never saw coming, you never hesperred it, you never imagined could happen, you never imagined could happen to you?
It could be good, it could be bad, it could be ugly. Do tell!
And it can be more than one. Let me tell you a few.
-owning a blog -week long dry fast at Prayer City (I never hesperred it).  -staying in an (emotionally) abusive relationship.
The others require anonymity. LOL. Now over to you.
