Something must be in the air and our celebrities obviously took a strong sniff of it. Or how else would you explain our celebrities suddenly behaving badly, it seems they've taken their roles as entertainers a bit too literally and have chosen to entertain us even when the camera stops rolling. Hey, I have no complaints there. It's just interesting to watch, 2016 is obviously our year of celebs behaving badly, plus 'clapback' season.
Just when it was barely day 1 Olamide of YBNL broke the Internet with his spitfire tweets which was set off by Don jazzy telling him "If you want the car, come and take it." at the headies.
Dammy Krane reportedly had his head broken by Wizkid at Quilox although he has neither scar not stitch to show for it. Apparently the youngens wanted to show their egbons above how real men beef, which is certainly not by impotent, infantile rants on social media.
Celebrities have also decided that enough is enough and being "classy" no dey pay. Welcome Clap back season". Barely a few days into the year Uche Ogbodo went on a fuck fest on Instagram (no, not literally. You wish!)
Cynthia Morgan called Davido a fuckboy (although he didnt clapback), probably because he was having major babymama drama at the time and was making some very strong allegations against said babymama's uncle on social media. Caroline Danjuma in a sarcasm-drenched comment called a follower "minister of defence", Iyanya called a follower "jobless". And now OAP/comedienne Lolo has called out her fellow comedienne in a rather brash post on Instagram:
We need to talk about how social media is making animals out of us. But that's topic for another day...
Most of us tend to think that celebrities are superhuman and expect them to turn the other cheek. We tell them that silence is golden, we ask them to be "classy" and ignore. We tell them that it comes with the territory and they better develop thick skins and behave. But shouldn't they be allowed to lash out every once in a while like normal people?
It's barely three weeks into 2016 and if this is anything to go by, then this year promises to be a very interesting one and I'm loving it. Are you loving our badly behave celebrities or should they make it stop?
Either ways I'm terribly entertained, aren't you...
