No Nobility In Begging & Prostitution.

I saw this interesting post on Linda's Ikeji's blog. The said blogger is now looking for this lady to gift her with 500,000 Naira to start a business or whatever she chooses.

I really love Linda's generousity. I also admire this woman's attitude to life.

However I can't quite understand how someone who speaks such good english and has a facebook account is a bricklayer or is it brick carrier? In any case, if it's not yet 12pm (even though the message was posted at 5.01am?) and she's made 2k and would make another 2k, I'm thinking she's making an average of 5k a day. That's 150k a month, and that's more than what a lot of graduates are currently earning in Nigeria at the moment, so guess it's not too bad after all.

They say there's dignity in labour, no?

  1. So I typed a comment

    Can't find it

    1. Favourite plzzzzz, I didn't find any other comment, can you retype?

  2. So your point is what Thelma?

Note that she will use at most 2k everyday for feeding and pain relievers.
Also, people like her don't get to work everyday because there are days when they are not needed or no one is working on a site.

It's not too bad you say? But no one wishes to do this kinda work but do it anyway because they need to survive. She's surviving the good way but working her ass off as a lady instead of spreading her legs.
    Honey,appreciate effort!
I won't catch you carrying blocks afterall.

    1. Actually you won't. But I sense you seem to think I'm being sarcastic, I'm not.

    2. Shuoo Thelma, where is the sarcasm in what you wrote?....still using halogen lamp to look for it.

    3. And no 150k is not too bad, especially when we have some qualified lawyers earning 15k a month, that's the angle I was speaking from.

    4. U're looking at d 150k as if at d end of every month she'll ve 150k at hand or in the bank. Actually, u sounded sarcastic, more like, and so? It's not like we all can't do it.

  3. I just want to believe it's those building sites where the labourers are allowed to sleep over so that they can start work as early as 4am...cus this story and the time she posted it gat me thinking in the direction pity pity fraud.

    1. Yea I also think its one of these sites where u sleep over. This does not in anyway sound like fraud. When its ur "time", na so e dey always be!

  4. Hmmm..if it is not a bread seller, it would be a brick carrier..I wonder who comes next..TNHW

    1. Very soon all the brick carriers in Nigeria who didn't have a Facebook account will get theirs before the week runs out. :D

    2. I'm telling you... Lol

      Deceptive likes

  5. Hmm,i donno why but why do we celebrate such? "See me,im carry block". Like seriously?

I'm guessing this is her strategy to really get noticed for a better job and for that,im impressed...

  6. Hmm,i donno why but why do we celebrate such? "See me,im carry block". Like seriously?

I'm guessing this is her strategy to really get noticed for a better job and for that,im impressed...

    1. My thoughts as well.. she's gotten the attention she wanted anyway

  7. My own is that Linda could have just said "I'm looking for this lady" without adding the "I want to give her 500k" part! But what do I know

  8. Thelma the sharp lady! I didn't even think to calculate the money, how come?
I totally get your point o,yes, there is dignity in labour and the money she would probably earn is not bad at all, but then pride would not let people take the job.(which wouldn't be bad if one refused this job)
Remember choice of occupation is not always about money alone.

  9. Lets calm down and look at it again.
    1) She will not be needed for all the days of the month. Probably only 2 weeks out of the month. So she really isnt getting that N150k
    2) There is no job security. After this construction is done, she might not find another construction job for a while. Most of these construction workers are nomadic. They leave home for 2 weeks at a stretch to be on site. (Transporting themselves daily wont make it worth it anymore)
    3) A woman doing this?? Naaa...
    4) Is it safe? She might have to work till late, sleep over at the site. Only her in the midst of strong men. If they attempt something in the night ko?

Its tough. I would prefer if she was a bus conductor. A Keke Napep rider. Something less risky and more steady.

    1. A Million likes to ur analysis

  10. there are other less energy trades she can get involved in, nail fixing, hairdressing, plate washer at a buka even. why bricklaying..
linda could have been more discreet i agree, why does she have to announce to the world what she wants to give to the lady?

  11. Linda will give but people do not know, people will talk. Linda will let people know she is giving people will still talk. You guys should leave linda alone, its all about the money. Maybe she is doing this to get ta rebate at lease it is proof of charitable/CSR activities. In the end, as long as it is working for her, i believe it is okay.

  12. There's no nobility for a beggar or prostitute, she says...
Considering the context she's using these words, then there's no nobility in bricklaying as well.

Turia Pitt Suffered 65% Burns But Loved Conquered All...

Amazing Story Shared by Dr. Ben Carson on Facebook, i thought it is inspiring and i decided to share;

The Australian ex-model Turia Pitt suffered burns to 65 per cent of her body, lost her fingers and thumb on her right hand and spent five months in hospital after she was trapped by a grassfire in a 100 kilometre ultra-marathon in the Kimberley. Her boyfriend decided to quit his job to care for her recovery.
Days ago, in an interview for CNN they asked him:
"Did you at any moment think about leaving her and hiring someone to take care of her and moving on with your life?"

His reply touched the world:

"I married her soul, her character, and she's the only woman that will continue to fulfill my dreams."

This made me very reflective. I just wonder; if the person you love today encounters an incident or accident that transforms who they are physically, it could be amputation, it could be paralysis, it could be severe burns that scald their flesh beyond recognition, w…
