Foluke Daramola & Instagram Users At Each Other's Throats Over Anti-Feminist Talk.

Ever since Nigerian actress Foluke Daramola made the statement during a recent interview with New Telegraph, she has received a lot of backlash, this apparently being the most recent.

For those who didn't read it, here's what she said;

I’m sorry I don’t think men and women should have equal rights in this case. I think the male should have more than the female, but it should be with proportion, maybe on a ratio of 60 to 40. The reason why I think so is because we women tend to be extremely domineering when it comes to issues and sometimes sentimental. Men can be detailed even though we are sometimes. So, there are proportions in all these things. The role of a man can never be over emphasized. Even though I’m a woman rights activist, I still believe in the place of a woman and a man. The man is supposed to be a step ahead of the woman; you can never take that away.

Now here goes the saga!

When I read what Foluke Daramola said I was dumbfounded, I also knew she would get a lot of heat for her choice of words. But... true feminism isn't about bashing other women for their choices. There are better ways to get one's point across, yes?

Some fans be taking things way too personal...

  1. Chai! Mean words everywhere. #Strollsaway

  2. Omode n se gbogbo won... Childish..

  3. I became speechless after reading this but then every mallam to his kettle. I just hope that we women don't forget that we are women in all this.

  4. Foluke has deeper issues to deal with based on her statement and beliefs. Folks tend to mix up marital roles and life gender roles which is exactly what she wrote about. In addition for all you know her sense of life is based on having the approval of a man. Can you blame her?

    As for those rail roading her in such a vulgar way, are they any better?especially as they claim to be educated however can barely construct their arguments.

  5. sad, sad all the way. Some Women can insult sha.

  6. Was expecting the backlash of her words....but...those women were MEAN!!!!!! Chaaaaiiii!!!! I never want to be insulted like that in my life.

    I believe their anger stemmed from the fact that a self proclaimed feminist could utter such words. It's frustrating when you see someone who's supposed to be fighting the same cause as you, turning around to fling your fight in the gutter.
