"You Know Nigeria Is In Trouble When a President's Wife Talks Like This".

The Aisha-Fayose brouhaha has got the whole social media in a frenzy in the last few days. This began when Fayose condemned the injustice and unconstitutionality of a sitting Governor who is provided with immunity having his accounts frozen, in a statement to Premium Times. In his statement, he called on the President and the EFCC to wait until 2018 when he'll leave office and then, they can do whatever they please. He then went ahead to suggest, as many others have, that the President's fight against corruption is simply a veiled witch hunt of the opposition. He said that none's hands are clean and that the "secret" estate built by the President in Abuja is known to "them". He said that even the President's wife, Aisha Buhari was involved in the Halliburton scandal. In his words; Even the President cannot claim to be an angel. The estate he built in Abuja is known to us. His wife was indicted over the Halliburton Scandal. When that American, Jefferson, was being sentenced, the President’s wife was mentioned as having wired $170,000 to Jefferson. Her name was on page 25 of the sentencing of Jefferson. We can serialize the judgment for people to see and read.

Well, this is what led to the First Lady's infamous Twitter rants.

Some say this is beneath a First Lady. Some say it's a good thing she responded to the allegations. Some say she should have responded, but should have been professional about it. Some have even compared her to the former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, saying Patience was bullied, ridiculed, accused and insulted by many, yet she never stooped so low as to personally brawl with someone on social media. Some say her account must have been hacked. Some say, now they now how it feels to be accused and labelled "corrupt" without a trial or any due process. One said You know Nigeria is in trouble when a president's wife talks like this.

What say you?

  1. 1) Her reputation was questioned in a most obscene manner.

    2) She reacted on impulse and unladylike, like any normal being would.

    3) She realized the damaging effect of her response and deleted her tweets.

    4) She's still a Lovely Lady. :-)

  4. I learnt from a very young age not to put down anything in ink when I am angry. My father also stressed that to me on my first job.

When you are in certain positions you cannot afford to lose your cool. Shout in your sitting room, insult Fayose in the comfort of your bedroom but don't put it out on social media. Attack issues not the person. It is called class.

The sad thing is that I really don't expect much from people in power so I can't truthfully say I was disappointed. J

  7. She goofed! She is not the wife of the top area chairman in Oshodi, what is up with call a grown ass man a mad dog? Totally unnecessary, unprofessional and definitely not what I expect from the first lady.

Ill be upset with my wife if she does such at this my small level, not to talk of if Im the President. I cant picture Mrs Obama tweeting such. She even did it on twitter - where all the attention seeking people go to fight. We all know Fayose has mental issues. Why fight with a mad man?

    Peace.

  11. unprofessional response ... she's human and is bound to on one or more occasions loose her temper but it will never take away the fact that it was rude and very unethical.

  12. Sometimes you wonder if the cons of social media don't outweigh the pros..

When has anybody seen FLOTUS respond angrily to any tweet or Facebook post? Not everyone deserves your reply especially not someone like Fayose. These tweets are classless and totally uncalled for. Those who said "silence is the best answer for a fool" knew what they were saying now. This just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Madam First Lady needs to get a grip on her emotions and refrain from responding to anyone (especially if it can be documented) in anger.

  13. Fayose seems to bring out the worst in people, The Fisrt lady's actions was totally unexpected.

There are grander ways to make a statement that would have rubbished Fayose and made him a much bigger pawn.

...Presenting the facts of the matter and publicizing it, as well as suing him, whether as a sitting governor or when he is booted out of office or at the end of his tenure.
Its sad that this is what Nigeria has turned into. A land of ineptitude, ridicule, indiscipline, and un-seriousness from every quarter.
    SMH....
