Not With My Money!

LOL @ I give up.

So I had this chat with my friend Deedee (not real name) this afternoon. Deedee complains often that I'm too low maintenance. This afternoon I put up one of the pictures above as my whatsapp display picture and she immediately sent me a message to say that I would look much better wearing long weaves.

Do you know I actually agree with Deedee? I would look way prettier with long bouncy weaves. But no matter how much money I make, I can't seem to part ways with 100k to buy hair, not because it's too expensive or not worth it, but because I'd always find something better to do with the money. I have a few weaves that were given to me by my elder sister before she became a naturalista which I still use occasionally, and when I really really REALLY need to, I could buy a very affordable weave of about 50k at most but I've never spent over 60,000 on hair and I don't think I could. I have friends who spend as much as N400,000 on one weave and to them it's money well spent. Me, honestly I just can not! LOL. I'd much rather spend much less cash on my durable kinky braids and take my mind off my hair for months so that I can focus on other things.

But I realize everyone has those things that they absolutely can't spend cash on. Some people can never buy perfumes. My sister, for example. She loves and has some of the most expensive perfumes but she believes that perfumes ought to be given as gifts and never bought with one's own money. Some people can't spend their money on books, if they cannot get an e-copy then that's that. Some absolutely refuse to spend money eating out and would much rather go to the market and cook what they want. Some refuse to take a taxi when they can take a bus. Some refuse to fly business class and insist on economy. Some would NEVER pay to attend a business (or motivational) conference and so on.

It's not due to lack of cash, the cash could actually be in abundance but you just find there are certain things you that you cannot part with (good) cash for.

Do you have one of those things you hate to spend your money on? Gist me. ☺️

  1. You look nice in your braids if that's what you like. I only like straight weave and they are affordable Hmmmmmm, this life is funny though in the sense that it just depends on you. I was telling my friend the other day, that I can spend loads of money on dresses and shoes but I don't own a good wristwatch (cause she complainedabout the Aldo one I had on). So yh I hate to spend money on wrist watches so I'll rather get the cheap one. But when it comes to clothes I'm all out!!!!!!!!!!!

As for shoes, i just will buy and biyy , and often times not wear them.

I was once a book freak, it was a monthly affair. Now im on a break. Haven't read plenty of the books.

  7. I don't even know what I can spend so much money on like that. I love gowns but I don't think I can spend so much on them sha, maybe when I start having that much. I still dream of owning a big science lab though. Things that interest me are just books and books and books. Thank God for my sister and my mum in my life that is helping my matter small small. If not I will just look like a village girl that force herself into Lagos life.

  9. Mine will be bags.I can carry a bag for one year if you let me. The highest I paid for a bag is 10k after haggling for almost an hour because I just didn't see any reason to pay so much for a bag.The stress of loading and offloading stuffs from one bag to another is the major reason. I just stick to one till it starts to shed blood on my skin.

My backpack and I everywhere I go. I'm just learning to carry hand bags.

Sunshine bought a handbag recently for kinikan dollars... I was just shaking my head. I can't abeg.

  10. Jewellery. I can't be caught dead using as much as #1000 to buy jewellery talk more of using a lot of money. An earring of at most #300 is ok for me. Don't do necklaces and not a fan of bracelets either. Gifting me with jewellery is a waste cos I won't use it properly.
In the nearest future I can buy and save so as to resell when there is a hike in the price but not to use, I don't value it.

  12. "...Some refuse to fly business class and insist on economy. Some would NEVER pay to attend a business (or motivational) conference...".

That's so me. Don't understand why I should get a business class ticket for an average one hour trip, or pay close to 10 gees just to listen to "business advice". I can't even imagine how people do this. Lol. Then taking taxis is only if I know it's obviously going to be a long day, or it's a wet day, or the buses going my route are really so..you know. If not, danfo or BRT please. No time...

  13. I have not spent enough money on anything for that matter to judge what will take my money and what won't. I just pay my tithe and eat๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

  18. I can always go beyond my budget to buy a handbag and wristwatch I love, but I will never spend anything more than little on jewelry because they will eventually end up in a friend or acquaintance closet.

  19. I can spend money on anything as far as it will last me a long time. One thing I don't do is collect items. I have just one good hand bag, one good wrist watch, one good court shoe (mumsie got me another two months ago), etc. etc.. I will use the good stuff until it dies then replace it with another good one.

These days tho, I've bought more clothes with my money this year than I have in the past 5 years combined, I think that's my new vice.. lol

My sister is a shoe collector tho, as far as it's pretty, she will buy it or beg mumsie to get it for her.

  23. And then I love houses so I'll definitely be spending money on that when I start working

  24. I'm still battling with paying additional N270K for a premium economy ticket! I'll rather do Economy.

Perfumes, Weaves, Make-Up/cosmetics...I do not understand the reason I would need to spend so much to acquire them.

Turia Pitt Suffered 65% Burns But Loved Conquered All...

Amazing Story Shared by Dr. Ben Carson on Facebook, i thought it is inspiring and i decided to share;

The Australian ex-model Turia Pitt suffered burns to 65 per cent of her body, lost her fingers and thumb on her right hand and spent five months in hospital after she was trapped by a grassfire in a 100 kilometre ultra-marathon in the Kimberley. Her boyfriend decided to quit his job to care for her recovery.
Days ago, in an interview for CNN they asked him:
"Did you at any moment think about leaving her and hiring someone to take care of her and moving on with your life?"

His reply touched the world:

"I married her soul, her character, and she's the only woman that will continue to fulfill my dreams."

This made me very reflective. I just wonder; if the person you love today encounters an incident or accident that transforms who they are physically, it could be amputation, it could be paralysis, it could be severe burns that scald their flesh beyond recognition, w…

Good morning people!
Just checking in to sign the register. Lol. It's been a very busy week and it looks like it might be an even busier weekend. I was hoping to get some writing done when I got to the airport yesterday but I even almost missed my flight. It was hopeless trying to do any work on the plane as it was bumpy af, and this toddler behind me wouldn't stop screaming in piercing shrieks like he was being exorcised.
I got into town pretty late and needed to keep an appointment ASAP. I'm heading out right now and it's going to be a long day, but thought I should drop this first.
Have a splendid day. Im'ma be back soon.

THE ‘NEW’ SIDE CHICK: I WAS HER

A side chick is commonly known as a mistress or a woman that’s romantically involved with a man who is in a committed relationship.  However after doing some reflecting, I realize that’s not the only type of side chick.  I want to discuss “the new side chick”–a woman who decides to stay by a man’s side after he has expressed his lack of relationship intentions with her through his words or actions.  So many women have made this mistake at least once in their lifetime, and unfortunately I’ve done the same thing. I like to think of the new side chick as an appetizer.  You’re there just to satisfy the immediate appetite of the man, but as soon as that mouth-watering entrรฉe comes out to the table, you will get pushed to the side, literally.  Why?  Because that entrรฉe is what he really wanted; he went to the restaurant to order steak, not hot wings.  You were just a placeholder, fling, temporary commitment, or  maybe even just a “good ol time” until what he really wanted was presented to hi…

Shhhhhhh....

I'm in an amebo mood tonight. Don't ask me, I honestly don't know why. Also I'd like to share too but I'd do that anonymously in the comment section. Tonight I want to talk about secrets. It's ok, we can all be anonymous.
Is it true that EVERYBODY has a secret?
Is there anyone here who doesn't have a secret? I'd really like to know; You're a completely open book and there's not ONE thing about you that you wouldn't mind other people knowing about? Please raise your hands up.
And for the rest of us, what's something about you that no one knows, or very few people know? Who's got a dark secret here, or a weird one, or a funny one even? I really don't mean to be invasive but I don't want to be the only one sharing, plus I think hearing other people's secrets is quite fun, don't you think?

Let's Be Random Together! (Open Keypad).

Hey guys, a while back blog reader F said something about creating an Open Keypad post, where you can write whatever you want in the comment section. I thought it was a fun idea!
So who is interested? Comment on anything you feel like, ask me or anyone a question, talk about how your day went, your job, your interests, tell us something about you that we don't know, share a testimony with us, rant about anything you feel like, talk about your crush/boo/spouse/relationship/marriage, challenges you're facing, ANYTHING AT ALL!
I'll only make one request; that we stay civil.

(F it was you who made this suggestion, right? I'm not too sure and I can't even remember the post the comment was made on).
BTW please Ejoeccome out come out, wherever you are!

Question of The Day.

TTB readers doesn't this tweet below remind you of something?
That mail that someone sent me a few weeks back.
But why on earth should a man sleep with his son's fiancรฉ? But what am I saying, some men even sleep with their daughters...

Oh well, I'm throwing the question to you. What has happened in your life that you never saw coming, you never hesperred it, you never imagined could happen, you never imagined could happen to you?
It could be good, it could be bad, it could be ugly. Do tell!
And it can be more than one. Let me tell you a few.
-owning a blog -week long dry fast at Prayer City (I never hesperred it).  -staying in an (emotionally) abusive relationship.
The others require anonymity. LOL. Now over to you.
