Do you ever wonder about other people's lives, and wonder how it'll feel to walk in their shoes for a day?
I was sitting on my bed with my windows wide open enjoying the crisp harmattan air when this luxurious floral scent wafted into my room. I'm not a floral person, neither pattern, plant nor scent, but I know perfume and I know expensive perfume when I smell it.
I quickly peeked out of my window and saw two ladies walked into a metallic G-Wagon, both light skinned with a pampered look that only good money could buy. One had her hair in blond braids and the other, who drove the car, had a black and gold ombré weave. A man dressed in a suit followed behind her, and even from my room in the next compound upstairs, I could see the adoring look in his eyes.
I watched her dust something off his shoulder, something I was sure wasn't there, you know the way people in love, or lust, always dust imaginary things off each other, just another opportunity to touch the current object of their desire.
And then she chuckled and walked towards the driver seat but he held her waist and pulled her in for a kiss. I couldn't help but notice her quickly glance left and right at her surroundings, a move that got me ducking away from my window, a move that confirmed my thoughts, the man is most likely married.
Quickly I brought my head back to the window and watched them again. Their kiss had ended but that adoration was still in his eyes. The wheels rolled back a bit, her car was already in reverse but you could see she was reluctant to leave, and he still stood there, not ready to let her go. Still looking, rather gazing at her like she was intricately woven threads of silk that might turn into smoke and float into the air and be gone forever.
I sat back into my bed reminiscing of the times someone looked at me that way. It's the most magical yet frightening feeling in the world.
Anywayssss, I know I'm not the only one who wonders about other people's lives. If you could be someone else for a day who would you be, and why?
